The St-Barth 85 Fly is featured in the March 2026 edition of Boat International. The article reflects on the origins of the yacht, the thinking behind her layout and the way space is experienced on board. For us, it echoes a journey that started not in a boardroom, but at home.

When Frank first mentioned building his own yacht, the response within the family was honest. His daughters questioned the idea. Daniëlle needed time to see where it might lead. What remained constant, however, was the intention to create a yacht that feels natural for the way a family actually lives at sea. That intention became the starting point of St-Barth Yachts.

Dutch built

St-Barth Yachts continues to operate as a family-led shipyard. The SB85 Fly is built entirely in aluminium in Enkhuizen, in collaboration with Dutch designers and naval architects. Aluminium was chosen consciously. It offers structural integrity, reduced weight and durability over time, while contributing to performance and long-term sustainability.

Twin Volvo Penta 1350 IPS engines deliver speeds above 25 knots. Sleipner Vector Fins provide stability underway, ensuring comfort remains consistent at sea.

A boutique approach

The first SB85 Fly found her owner during her debut in Palma. A second hull is currently under construction, alongside a new SB75 with flybridge. Production remains intentionally limited to no more than two yachts per year. This scale allows the family to remain directly involved in each build and ensures every owner experiences a personal process from concept to delivery.

Designed around family life

The SB85 Fly was never meant to compete on size alone. At 26 metres, she remains deliberately below the 30-metre threshold, allowing greater freedom in anchorages while still offering the comfort expected of a larger yacht.

Her layout follows a different logic. Guests step directly from the boarding platform into the main saloon, creating an immediate relationship with the water. The full-beam master suite sits forward and can open towards the lower lounge, forming a private apartment when desired. The arrangement allows proximity without sacrificing privacy. It feels considered, but not overworked.

Details with purpose

The character of the SB85 Fly lies in how the details support daily life on board. The spa pool on the foredeck becomes a natural gathering place. The flybridge helm remains part of the social space, rather than being set apart. Beneath the beach platform, a concealed tender garage preserves the clean exterior line.

Inside, the atmosphere is defined by warmth and light. The liquid metal bar, developed with a Dutch artist, adds depth without dominating the interior. Subtle references to the island of St Barths appear in the guest bathrooms, integrated rather than displayed.
